Description

Job Summary:

Primary responsibility in association with the Attending Physician/Surgeons(s), for the inpatient management of critically ill neurosurgical or neurologic pediatric patients in the intensive care setting. Participates in critically ill pediatric patients clinical care demonstrating high levels of critical thinking skills as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Participates in the development of guidelines for nurse practitioners, and serves as a resource for staff members, patients, and family.  Works directly in improving the clinical skills of nurses to continuously improve quality of care, processes, and services, raising the standard of care delivered to patients.  Supports and upholds the mission, vision, values, and guiding behaviors, patient bill of rights, and the Code of Business and Ethics Conduct.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • APRN - Nurse Practitioner

    State of Florida Licensure - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

    CPNP- AC –Certified Pediatric Nurse Pratictioner -Acute Care

    Completion of certification by a pediatric nursing certification board is preferred- maintain active and in good standing throughout employment

    Successful completion of Credentialing by NCH Medical Administration required

    ACLS - American Heart Association ACLS

    Required as per department

    NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program

    Required as per department

    PALS - American Heart Association PALS

    Required for this position

    CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute

    Required as per department

    BACKGRD - Level II Background Check

    Required for this position

    CPR BLS -American Heart Association BLS

    Maintain active and in good standng throughout employment

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Career Development: National Certified Pediatric Nurse (CNRN) and/or certification equivalent within 5 years of hire preferred
  • PALS preferred per department -  in good standing throughout employment
  • Must be able to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions
  • Must be able to recognize subtle changes in the patient’s condition and to adapt care based on those changes
  • Must have strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with other disciplines using discretion and independent judgment
  • Must be able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
