Job Summary
Primary responsibility in association with the attending Physician(s) for the subspecialty care of children and adolescents with endocrine disorders, growth disorders, sexual development disorders, and thyroid disorders. Responsibilities include history and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting radiological and laboratory test results, prescribing medications, documenting patient care services within the EMR and departmental records, and performing procedures within scope of practice and demonstrated through competency. Reports directly to the Section Chief with a dotted line to the Director Advanced Practice.
Job Specific Duties
- Acts as a resource for patients, families, staff, or community groups providing diabetes education and emotional support.
- Performs and documents thorough patient & family assessment which require ongoing collection of data.
- Develops, implements, evaluates, monitors, manages, and modifies a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Provides for a plan of care of sufficient breadth & depth to guide the interdisciplinary team in achieving the desired health outcomes for patients and families.
- Collaboratively develops educational goals, objectives and follow-up plan for educational & teaching methods with the patient & families.
- Provides care appropriate to the developmental level of the patient.
- Identifies when patient needs are outside the scope of the CDE's practice & expertise, plus arranges for additional services to meet needs.
- Generates & collects data in order to make clinical decisions about the initiation of appropriate orders, procedures, referrals, & treatments.
- Models professional verbal &written communication with the interdisciplinary team involved in the ongoing management of patient outcomes.
- Participates in activities associated with patient care (e.g., writing daily progress notes, coordinating clinical care and discharge planning).
- Develops & maintains relationships and/or partnerships with community groups, payers & potential referral sources.
- Provides educational interventions that utilize age appropriate interactive and skill-based training methods.
- Provides direction for the selection of ongoing reviews of curriculum & educational materials to ensure they meet the needs of targeted population.

Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Master's degree in nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
- APRN state of Florida Licensure - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Program (AANP), or Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- Level II Background Check
- Successful completion of Credentialing by NCH Medical Administration
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Previous pediatric nurse practitioner experience preferred.
- Endocrinology experience preferred.
- Ability to work weekends, call, and holidays.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and react calmly under stressful conditions.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively with other disciplines using discretion and independent judgement
- Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families and co-workers.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
