Job Summary
The employee will assist the General Counsel in management of the intellectual property and information technology matters of Miami Children’s Hospital, and provide legal services in the areas of intellectual property, information technology and security (including HIPAA, HITECH).
Minimum Job Requirements

Florida Bar license.

Minimum of 6 years’ experience in intellectual property law, patent law certification and in-house experience preferred.
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists General Counsel in establishing, implementing, monitoring, and measuring short and long-term department goals and objectives.
- Assists General Counsel with filing, management, and protection/defense of patents, trademarks, and copyrights for the intellectual property of Miami Children’s Hospital.
- Assists General Counsel with review and approval of information technology contracts, licenses, and external vendor relationships.
- Assists hospital leadership in assessing current processes, safety and quality tools, logos/marks, inventions, research, etc. for development, filing, and distribution as protected intellectual property.
- Performs legal research and drafts legal memoranda as needed.
- Provides advice and counsel to hospital leadership regarding intellectual property and technology law matters.
- Provides legal assistance to other hospital departments and leadership as requested.

- Ability to grasp issues quickly and translate them in understandable terms.
- Ability to think from a critical and analytical standpoint.
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision but also a team player.
- Ability to work under stress imposed by deadlines and multiple projects.
- Demonstrated proficiency with computer other digital media.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills required, including ability to motivate others on behalf of a cause.
- Highly dependable and trustworthy.
