Seeking Chief for Department of Radiology at Prestigious Children’s Hospital in Miami 

Nicklaus Children's Hospital, a 325-bed freestanding children's hospital and ACS-verified Level 1 pediatric trauma center based in Miami, Florida, and Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the physician multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System, are seeking an exceptional candidate to lead the Department of Radiology. 

Position Overview 

The Section Chief is responsible for setting the strategy and providing leadership for the Radiology Department at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, including the physicians employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists who provide pediatric radiology services. In addition to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital main campus near Coral Gables, Florida, imaging services are conducted at 15 locations throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. The ideal candidate will be board certified and fellowship trained in Pediatric Radiology with dynamic leadership experience.

About the Radiology Department at Nicklaus Children’s Health System

The Department of Radiology offers a wide array of tests and procedures including digital X-rays, MRI, PET/CT scans, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology procedures.  

  • Number of cases/studies performed annually: 190,000 
  • 13 FTE Radiologists 
  • vRad night hawk coverage

Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and its outpatient centers are proud to be designated as a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The DICOE program represents the pinnacle of medical imaging care and is an achievement that goes beyond accreditation to recognize best-quality imaging practices and diagnostic care. In addition, Nicklaus Children’s has achieved ACR accreditation in Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound.

Continuous Investment in Quality Equipment  

State-of-the-art ACR-accredited imaging equipment at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and offsite imaging centers, include:  

  • 6 MRI (including 3T and intraoperative 1.5 T)  
  • Dual source CT (Siemens FLASH)  
  • Siemens PET-CT  
  • 2 dual-head nuclear cameras  
  • 2 Siemens fluoroscopy units  
  • 3 EOS imaging radiographic units  
  • High-quality GE digital radiography units  
  • 13 GE Logic ultrasounds  
  • Visage7 PACS, implemented in 2025, bringing cutting-edge advanced technology to the radiology and imaging space  
  • GE interventional suite that opened in 2025 

 Academic Affiliation 

  • Nicklaus Children’s Department of Radiology is the only ACGME-approved Pediatric Radiology Fellowship training program in Florida.  
  • Our academic affiliation is with Florida International University (FIU). This position includes a faculty appointment at FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine.  
  • The team also provides pediatric training for the Mount Sinai and HCA Radiology Fellowship Programs in Miami
