Job Summary
The BMT Data Support Specialist (DSS) is responsible for the CIBMTR/NMDP data registries and clinical OTTR database. Responsible for the provision of accurate clinical and program data to senior leadership, the Center of Excellence surveys, and the presentation of Program Survival statistics analysis. Serves as the data/analytic subject matter expert for the CIBMTR database registry. Effectively facilitates appropriate and timely data management, and ensures accurate reporting of data outcomes, accurate outcome initiatives benchmarking, and provides immediate feedback for assigned quality initiatives. Supports the analysis and organization of quantitative clinical, financial, operational, and administrative data. Supports quality assurance, performance measures, process improvement plans, strategic planning, and analysis & projects. Supports RFI for the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy (ASTCT).
Job Specific Duties
- Provides BMT data for cancer, blood and marrow transplantation from medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic records in compliance with the standards of CIBMTR, the National Marrow Donors Program, and FACT.
- Effectively facilitates appropriate & timely data management and ensures accurate reporting of data outcomes, accurate outcome initiatives benchmarking, and provides immediate feedback for assigned quality initiatives.
- Responsible for accurate data entry into the BMT program database, and ensures data management & reporting of data to all relevant registries.
- Supports quality assurance, performance measures, process improvement plans, strategic planning, analysis & projects.
- Facilitates efficient and consistent entry and retrieval of data in department or center database.
- Responsible for all aspects of the program's clinical data management, assisting with the maintenance and data integrity of the clinical research and decision support database.
- Responsible for management of data entry for OTTR.
- Responsible for the Center of excellence (COE) surveys.
- Responsible for survival statistics analysis.
- Serves as data/analytic subject matter expert for the CIBMTR database registry.
- Works collaboratively with BMT Program Coordinator on projects.
- Supports RFI for American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Clinical Science, Biological Science, or healthcare related field with 24 months of hire
- CITI Certification required within 30 days of hire date
- Previous experience with core measure retrospective abstraction, abstracting data from clinical databases, data manipulation, data validation, analysis, creating dashboards to track performance, as well as oral/written presentation of analysis.
- 2-3 years of experience in healthcare or related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Master's degree in Clinical Science, Biological Science, or healthcare related field preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year data management experience in clinical research with BMT experience preferred.
- Research experience including knowledge of databases, operating system, and application software (including relational databases, spreadsheets, communications, presentation of graphics and statistical programs).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of governmental regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to establish a positive working relationship and rapport with medical staff, other department heads, staff, and colleagues.
- Outstanding customer service skills and able to interact appropriately with BMT patients, medical and clinical staff.
- Ability to prioritize, work independently, and evaluate workload in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to create reports and dashboards to track performance using Microsoft Office and other data/project management software.
- Ability to navigate the EMR.
- Ability to conduct quality review and develop action plans.
- Ability to maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
