Job Summary

Conducts financial, statistical and analytical reviews, and prepares and assists in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and presentations. Participates in cross functional teams to assist with financial requirements and to enable adherence to generally acceptable accounting principles. Serves as specialized subject matter expert in complex health care accounting functions, acts as lead for team and directs workflow accordingly. Reconciles and maintains financial, statistical, and productivity data from multiple sources into Axiom.

Job Specific Duties

  • Responsible for Axiom database management, including the complex data mapping between the various Clinical, Financial, and IT systems.
  • Analyzes data and statistics to identify trends and account variances for specifically assigned departments. Provides explanation for variances.
  • Prepares accurate financial and statistical information for internal and external use by government agencies, financial institutions, auditors and third-party agencies.
  • Works with IT, Finance, Revenue Cycle, and other department leaders to ensure accurate data and reporting and maintain data across multiple systems and databases.
  • Performs complex general ledger account reconciliation on a routine basis; identifies and clears all reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Prepares special studies, analyses, and recommendations for budgets, forecasts, financial plans, governmental requirements, statistical reports, and business forecasts.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams to assist with financial requirements and to enable adherence to generally acceptable accounting principles.
  • Provides recommendations to leadership (CEO, CFO, and COO), other hospital administrators, and medical leadership regarding a wide range of hospital based strategic initiatives.
  • Develops automated procedures, eliminates duplication of effort, and coordinates information requirements in order to increase productivity and efficiency within the Finance Division.
  • Serves as specialized subject matter expert in complex healthcare accounting functions, acts as lead for team and directs workflow accordingly.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field 
  • 2-4 years of general ledger and/or healthcare experience
  • 2-4 years of experience in an accounting or financial analyst position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master’s degree in Business or Finance preferred.
  • Knowledge in healthcare accounting functions as well as progressive accounting experience.
  • Demonstrates competency in financial and statistical reporting as well as healthcare finance.
  • Demonstrates competency in design, preparation of spreadsheets and other financial reports.
  • Strong computer applications and project management skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Power Point, Access, SQL, Power BI and other healthcare related systems.
  • Skill in the use of complex mathematical and statistical techniques to assess financial and statistical scenarios.
  • Ability to utilize discretion and independent judgment to support the financial goals of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate information in a clear, concise, and easy to understand manner for use by internal and external groups.
