Job Summary

Research for organizational leadership in terms of research vision, program expansion, and resident research development and implementation. Promote innovative research aligned with the Health System mission. Expand the footprint of key academic collaborations across the country with the goal of improving oral health care and transforming practices specifically for the underserved. Identify and pursue relevant grants to advance the work. Manage and mentor the research team, as well as Attendings and Residents.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • PhD, DrPH, or ScD in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Healthcare Services Research
  • 8 years of relevant experience including research in dental public health, health services, population health, healthcare inequality, oral health disparities, or related
  •  Experience with grant writing
  •  Prior record of publications experience

  •  Ability to mentor and develop a team.
  •  Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  •  Expertise with SAS, SPSS, ArcGIS, Power and Sample Calculators, and conducting analyses.
  •  Successful collaborations with outside organizations.
  •  Record of publications and grants.
  •  Strong in idea leadership and has a track record of publications and grants.
  •  Excellent communication skills.
  •  Strong written, oral, and facilitation skills; excellent listener.
  •  Empathetic to individuals’ concerns and directs necessary follow-up actions.
  •  High integrity, honesty, and promoting trust in all actions.
  •  Able to handle changing timelines and priorities.
  •  Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Job Specific Duties

  •  Responsible for overseeing the writing of clinical protocols and conduction of trials.
  •  Manage and analyze incoming data; provides presentation and reports to Leadership.
  •  Provide epidemiological and statistical support for research projects, clinical protocols, and clinical development plans for projects.
  •  Monitor and directly participates in research trials and development. Ensures documents related to research trials and development are completed.
  •  Interpret research trials and development results and shares with Leadership and clinical team.
  •  Manages grant preparation, submission, abstract, and article writing related to the Dental Department.
  •  Assist with conference preparation and presentations along with travel as needed.
  •  Manage research collaborations, data sharing contracts, and QI projects with internal and external teams.
  •  Act as a liaison and leads in academic dental investigation; provides medical expertise to investigators and clinical team.
  •  Assist pediatric Dental Attendings and Residents with research studies.
  •  Monitors research development and ensures residents’ projects are completed on a timely basis.
  •  Supports teaching mission of the dental department and other departments as necessary.
