Job Summary

This role will report to and receive direction from the Consultant Executive Leader of Government Relations and Community Affairs. Directs and oversees operations related to the execution of the government and community affairs strategy for Nicklaus Children's Health System. Leads the community affairs and regional specialist team with the goal of enhancing relationships with respective communities and supporting Nicklaus Children's advocacy efforts. Collaborates with Nicklaus Children's leadership team to ensure alignment of hospital operations, communications and community strategy.

Job Specific Duties

  • Executes the strategic vision and strategy for Nicklaus Children’s government relations and community affairs efforts. 
  • Support the organization and management of high impact programs and opportunities that ensure Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and its key executives and leaders are visible and engaged in the community and with key organizations. 
  • Collaborates as a key member of the health system’s leadership team and participates/attends key internal meetings, programs, trainings and events.
  • Provides management, leadership and direction to the internal employed community affairs team; ensures productivity and compliance.
  • Directs and manages project plans, budgets and financial operations related to supporting government relations and community affairs strategy and operations. 
  • Manage and oversee community affairs efforts and year-round sponsorships to best strategically position Nicklaus Children and its brand/institutes in targeted communities wherein NCHS has a footprint. 
  • Identify and collaborate with local stakeholders to establish meaningful connections and design projects that advance NCHS in the South Florida Community. 
  • Develop and implement KPIs and associated outreach tactics to engage key business organizations and community stakeholders. 
  • Manage initiatives with local businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies to enhance project impact and leverage resources effectively. 
  • Facilitate initiatives aligned with NCHS strategic goals that align with elected official and respective community needs. 
  • Advocate for community interests and ensure that projects align with the community’s needs as it relates to the management of outreach efforts in Schenley Park and neighborhoods surrounding the hospital. 
  • Manage strategic activations at community events across the region. 
  • Direct and manage the time, effort and activities of community affairs team to ensure optimal alignment and attainment of KPIs. 
  • Work closely with the government relations consultant team, foundation, community health and marketing to ensure alignment of community affairs team efforts. 
  • Attend key operational monthly updates with leader and CEO as requested. 

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field
  • 10-15 years of industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in leading teams and operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of local community dynamics, culture, and social issues in South Florida.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to operate in a highly matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated project management expertise with a track record of successfully planning and executing community initiatives.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of local regulations and permits related to community development projects.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and impact assessment to evaluate project effectiveness.
  • Passion for community development and a commitment to making a positive social impact in South Florida.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
  • Self-disciplined with a high level of motivation.
