Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring our patients, families, visitors, as well as, employees have a wonderful experience by cleaning and maintaining your assigned area within Nicklaus Children's Hospital and its properties. Working here is about making a difference in the lives of children every day.
Job Specific Duties
- Cleans/maintains assigned work area by gathering materials, refill carts, trash removal, disposing red bags, disinfecting bathrooms (including showers, sink and toilet) and dusting.
- Cleans/Disinfect emergency spills and debris immediately.
- Ensures equipment is in good working order.
- Removes and properly disposes of trash and soiled linen.
- Replenishes supplies and linen.
- Reports safety hazards and defects immediately.
- Provides excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, and internal customers.
- Performs special cleaning procedures such as terminal cleanings when needed (deep cleaning using bleach, wipe walls, clean underneath bed, high dust, change curtains).
- Pull supplies from shelf and prepare cart.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Level II Background Check
- Prior work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High school education or equivalent preferred.
- Housekeeping and/or maintenance experience preferred.
- Floor care experience preferred.
- Able to communicate to request supplies and writes identifying information.
- Able to comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
- Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers.
- Ability to follow simple instructions to accomplish repetitive tasks.
- Excellent customer service skills.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute required within 45 days of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment within 45 days of hire
- American Heart Association PALS required within 3 months of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
- Level II Background Check
- Completes basic hours of orientation, plus 12 hours of in-service training within 4 weeks of hire
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Prior experience working with children and/or adolescents preferred
- ACLS within 1 year of hire and in good standing throughout employment preferred
- Able to relate cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers
- Able to complete basic competency list and specialized skills list for position
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Ability to problem solve to adapt standard nursing procedures to the individual client need
- Ability to interpret, adapt to, and react calmly under stressful conditions
- Ability to be flexible and handle reprioritization of patient needs frequently throughout the day
