Equipment Tech. - Operating Room (Full Time, Day shift)

Job Summary

Monitors and cleans all Operating Room equipment, transports patients, assists in OR cleaning, transports blood and trays, and serves in other departmental functions as required.

 

Minimum Job Requirements

 

  •  CPR BLS -American Heart Association BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Responsible for cleaning, monitoring, and returning equipment to storage. Sanitizes medical equipment as per NCHS policies and manufacturer recommendations.
  •  Using infection control policies, inspects, cleans, and ensures all equipment is functional and available as needed.
  •  Collects, records, organizes, and processes data information following established department policies and procedures on safety.
  •  Monitors medical equipment inventory levels; medical equipment is properly stored and rotated.
  •  Maintains the equipment room for cleanliness and order. Assists with cleaning in the Operating Room.
  •  Cleans and disinfects rooms, furniture, fixtures, and equipment per the Infection Control Policy.
  •  Makes beds, removes soiled linen & trash, and relines all waste and laundry containers.
  •  Performs indirect patient care, assists with lifting and positioning of the patient, and holding limbs as needed for procedure under the supervision of the Nurse.
  •  Assists in the transport of patients from one patient care area to another.
  •  Performs messenger services including transportation of laboratory products, clinical supplies, and pharmacy items to achieve productivity results in an efficient manner.
  •  Follows Institutional Clinical Laboratory Protocols and Standards for specimen handling and blood products.
  •  Seals and moves biohazardous waste and exchanges syringe boxes per Biohazardous Waste Disposal Policy.
  •  Ensure proper indication and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  •  High school education or equivalent preferred.
  •  Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  •  Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, families, and co-workers using effective oral communication skills.
  •  Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills with various patient populations.
  •  Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  •  Ability to remain calm under stressful situations and respond to urgent requests.
  •  Demonstrates use of proper body mechanics for lifting and positioning patients
