Food Service Utility Associate (Part Time, Evening shift)

Job Summary

The Food Service Utility Associate is responsible for various services to include but not limited to cleaning equipment, floors, workstations, utensils, pots, and pans using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, performs detail and project cleaning throughout the Food and Nutrition Department, including the kitchen, cafeteria, dining hall, and all other retail outlets.

Job Specific Duties

  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the department including but not limited to washing walls and floors, special detail cleaning projects, washing worktables, refrigerators, meat blocks and other food prep surfaces, removal of waste from cafeteria and retail outlets, and organization of dish storage area.
  • Operates floor machine according to guidelines. Reports malfunctions to supervisor or manager. 
  • Collects patient meal trays after meal service from all nursing units. Responsible for cleaning/sanitizing patient related dishes. 
  • Utilizes appropriate technique to wash all pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. Uses 3 compartment sink and proper washing and sanitizing chemicals. Documents on log. Verifies appropriate chemical use based on the SDS sheet. 
  • Follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, to ensure the safety for all during each shift. 
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations, including but not limited to adhering to hand hygiene protocols, temperature audits and documentation. Notifies Lead, Supervisor, or Manager if items/equipment are out of temperature. 
  • Operates, cleans, and maintains the functionality of the dishwashing equipment. Trouble shoots any issues as needed. Performs quality assurance on dish machine by checking temperature and documenting on temperature logs per standards. F: Daily/ T: 0.5-1 hours R:
  • Assist with loading or unloading and delivering supplies and product. 
  • Delivers all nourishment supplies to nursing units.
  • Covers all positions while supporting co-worker's breaks. 
  • Reports all customer complaints, potential hazards, employee accidents, and operational inconsistencies to leader on duty. 

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Active SafeStaff Certification required within 30 days of hire

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Food service operations experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate sufficiently well in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers.
  • Able to follow simple verbal instructions to accomplish repetitive tasks.
  • Able to build interpersonal relationships and work in a team-oriented environment; able to collaborate effectively with other team members.
  • Able to interact with the customers and coworkers in a positive, friendly, and enthusiastic manner.
  • Able to learn quickly and maintain knowledge of the establishment's products and procedures.
  • Able and available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and/or holidays.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Safety and Regulatory guidelines set by state with food safety.
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques preferred.
  • Able to follow simple instructions to accomplish repetitive tasks.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all patient and guest sensitive information (example: HIPAA).
