Job Summary

The Associate Director of Government & Community Affairs is responsible for supporting the implementation of strategic plans and engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities (local, state, provincial, and federal) to achieve organizational goals. Liaises with government entities that regulate or influence organizational activities. Monitors and analyzes proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends and prepares reports and informational documents to inform and support leaders. 

Job Specific Duties

  • Works closely with Leadership team, as well as the Executive Director of Government & Community Affairs to plan, coordinate, and execute advance community-wide initiatives.
  • Monitors and analyzes proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends that can impact the organization. 
  • Prepares presentations, informational documents, and reports for Nicklaus leadership, boards, and internal management forums as needed. 
  • Assists with organization and management of programs to ensure that Nicklaus Children’s Health System and its key executives and team members are visible with key local, state, and federal advocacy stakeholders. 
  • Assists with management of government and community initiatives, partnerships, and deliverables. 
  • Cultivates positive relationships with stakeholders that share complementary objectives. Understands their needs and expectations and ensures alignment to achieve objectives.
  • Manages meetings, scheduling, agendas, and shares materials with participants. 
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation, including project plans, reports, meeting minutes, and relevant records. Ensures all information is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible. 
  • Analyzes project outcomes and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Implements lessons learned to enhance future project success. 

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in external affairs or similar environment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders including external partners.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Able to work with high-level executives both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Able to work independently and be self-directed, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage confidential matters and information with discretion.
