Job Summary

Receives, prepares, issues, stores, and rotates food items used at the facility.

Job Specific Duties

  • Creates and implements organized process for receiving and reconciliation of food supplies. Ensures that items are categorized and reconciled. 
  • Conducts inventory and ensures proper par levels by ordering food and other supplies as needed for specific volume. 
  • Minimizes loss by ensuring the accuracy of all incoming orders by checking quantity and quality of food and food-related items received against purchase orders and specifications, communicating and coordinating with appropriate vendors and leaders regarding merchandise return, rejection, and credit. 
  • Stores food items and other supplies in designated areas of the storeroom, ensures the space is organized and utilized efficiently. Follows all security procedures regarding storeroom organization. 
  • Follows established safety standards for infection control, stocking, restocking rotating, displaying, and storing food and food related supplies (e.g. lids, cups, napkins, spices). This includes following First In First Out Method (FIFO), and ensuring the service area is clean, sanitized, stocked, and organized at all times. 
  • Ensures positive experiences by greeting all colleagues and customers in a warm and professional manner. 
  • Follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures, including those for safety and security, including controlling access to storeroom, and securing designated areas of potential theft, dangerous chemicals, supplies and equipment to safeguard employees. 
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep retail space operating to standard and to set a positive example for co-workers and customers.  
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations, including but not limited to hand hygiene protocols, auditing temperature. and escalating discrepancies to leaders.  
  • Reports needed maintenance or repairs of equipment used. Documents on the equipment log and follows up appropriately with vendor to completion of repair. 
  • Reports all customer complaints, potential hazards, employee accidents, and operational inconsistencies to leader on duty.  

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Active SafeStaff Certification required within 30 days of hire
  • Storeroom or warehouse experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to communicate sufficiently well in English both verbally and in writing to request supplies and properly label food items
  • Knowledge of Spanish helpful
  • Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with customers and co-workers
  • Basic knowledge in use of computers and printers and ability to learn appropriate software application(s)
  • Able to follow detailed written or verbal instructions
  • Knowledge of Safety and Regulatory guidelines set by state with food safety
