Medical Asset Specialist (Full Time, Days)

Job Summary:
Responsible for evaluation of locations and recommends equipment to be purchased for new medical departments, major renovations, and expansion of existing medical locations. Assists the leader with the selection of medical equipment and related systems. Administers and reviews purchasing agreements, purchase order process, SOW’s, and proposals for Clinical Engineering. Compiles and analyzes financial reports and tracks of department budget expenses throughout the fiscal year.  Responsible for the acquisition of medical equipment quotes for Miami Children’s Health System.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:
  •  2- 3 years of healthcare and or/clinical experience
  • Prior experience with contract management and proficient in financial analysis, contract development, contract standards, and language
  • Prior experience with purchasing healthcare equipment and/or healthcare IT systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project, and Visio)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Engineering, Health Care Administration, Public Health, or related field preferred
  • Prior work experience with medical equipment coordination and/or procurement experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical equipment for clinics and hospital facilities
  • Knowledge of hospital and clinic procedures and department functions
  • Able to use a variety of databases
  • Able to complete all necessary assignments within project deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other personnel and the public
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions
  • Ability to successfully handle stressful situations efficiently and effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills; Excellent attention to detail
Job Specific Essential Duties:
  • Facilitates meetings with medical personnel to establish appropriate placement and use of medical equipment for patient care.
  • Evaluates, locates and recommends equipment to be purchased for new medical facilities, major renovations and expansion of existing medical facilities.
  • Identifies and evaluates equipment in place to determine potential reuse; identifies obsolete, inappropriate, malfunctioning or unneeded equipment.
  • Responsible for receiving medical equipment quotes for Miami Children’s Health System and ensures that purchase price is the most cost effective. 
  • Administers and/or reviews purchasing agreements, purchase order process, SOW’s and proposals for Clinical Engineering.
  • Assists in the procurement and installation of medical and clinical equipment for all Clinical Engineering projects. Serves as a vendor liaison.
  • Conducts post-occupancy evaluation and reviews use of space and equipment.
  • Assists in development of project schedules and estimates costs. Prepares project status reports, monitors progress and updates leaders as needed.
  • Evaluates and tracks detail expenses on all activities.
  • Interacts with user clients and vendors to identify specific system requirements, problems, and assists with resolutions.
  • Acts as primary resource to internal and external department team members regarding clinical and medical equipment ongoing projects.
  • Analyzes financial reports, looks for discrepancies and keeps tracks of department budget expenses throughout the fiscal year
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agency and other regulatory standards for equipment installation and use.
  • Researches emerging technology trends and develops relationships with vendors to remain current with latest technologies.
