Painter - Facilities (Full Time, Days)

Job Summary

Performs daily checks of the hospital facilities for aesthetic damages and follows up with work orders to take care of deficiencies found. Responds to calls from hospital departments regarding problems that affect the hospital environment as it relates to damaged walls and floors.

Job Specific Duties

  • Completes daily logs and returns work tickets upon completion of assigned or self-initiated tasks.
  • Responds to calls from hospital departments regarding problems affecting the hospital facilities appearance including damaged walls and floors.
  • Assesses and repairs interior and exterior patch and paint of walls, doors and door frames. Paints machinery, piping and floors in mechanical rooms and in the exterior of the building.
  • Assists with patch and paint of special assignments requested by Facilities Supervisor or Manager to avoid closure or extended interruption time of services.
  • Reports any findings related to life safety or utility safety issues to a Facilities Supervisor or Manager.
  • Assists department in all emergency code situations including helping to prepare the facilities for emergency situations such as a hurricane with moving material, installing shutters and filling sand bags.
  • Properly prepares the work area, moves and covers furniture as necessary prior to complete patch, paint, or floor repairs.
  • Cleans and maintains paint supplies and equipment in a proper environment to eliminate waste and extend life expectance of material. Maintains an inventory control of the paints and supplies. Requisitions material as needed to complete work order requests in a timely manner.
  • Responsible to returning all work areas to a clean, neat, orderly and safe condition. Responsible to communicate and log EVS thermal cleaning requests when appropriate.
  • Inspects, installs and repairs handrails, wall protectors, wall bumpers and wall coverings as well as floor materials such as VCT, carpet, ceramic or porcelain tile and vinyl.
  • Works on painting assignments of special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on job duties assigned
  • 2-4 years of experience as a painter

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • High school education or equivalent preferred.
  • Hospital Painter experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of paint types and the use of various paint, floor and wall patching.
  • Knowledge of repairing tools as well as hand and bench power tools such as electric drills and saws.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions to solve complex problems and file basic reports.
  • Reacts calmly under stressful conditions.
  • Relates cooperatively and constructively with clients and co-workers.
