Job Summary
Nicklaus Children's Health System is seeking a distinguished clinician scientist to join its Oncology Division as an Associate Professor or Professor, with a specialized focus on Clinical Trials. This role is pivotal in advancing the hospital's mission to develop and implement innovative therapies for pediatric cancers and related disorders. The successful candidate will lead and expand a robust portfolio of clinical trials, translational research, and laboratory initiatives, driving progress in cutting-edge treatments, and improving outcomes for children facing complex oncological challenges. In addition to their role at Nicklaus Children's Hospital, the selected candidate will hold a faculty appointment at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University (FIU), fostering academic collaboration and contributing to the education and mentorship of future medical professionals. This is a high-impact, dual-appointment role combining specialized clinical practice with the leadership of the hospital’s Clinical Research Portfolio. The Specialist will lead the translation of laboratory discoveries into clinical applications across all phases (I, II, and III), ensuring that patients in South Florida and beyond have access to the world’s most advanced therapies without leaving the region.
Job Specific Duties
Protocol Development & Principal Investigation: Lead the design and execution of investigator-initiated trials. Institute protocols and industry-sponsored trials focusing on novel therapies.
Advanced Therapeutic Integration: Oversee trials involving high-complexity interventions.
Precision Medicine Implementation: Coordinate with the Nicklaus Children's Personalized Medicine Initiative to integrate genomic sequencing and molecular profiling into trial eligibility screening, ensuring a personalized "targeted" approach for relapsed/refractory cases.
Regulatory & Compliance Leadership: In partnership with the Nicklaus Children’s Research Institute, ensure 100% compliance with FDA regulations, Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements, and international Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- MD/DO from an accredited medical school; Fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- 3–5 years of experience in clinical trial leadership with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
