Outstanding Opportunities for a Child and Adolescent Psychologist and Mental Health Therapist in Naples, Florida

 

Nicklaus Children's Hospital, a 307-bed freestanding children's hospital and ACS-verified Level 1 pediatric trauma center, and Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists, the multispecialty group practice of Nicklaus Children's Health System, have exceptional opportunities for a licensed clinical psychologist with experience in pediatric psychology, and a mental health therapist. Candidates should possess a passion for advocacy and improving care for all children, which includes delivering on Nicklaus Children’s brand promise of a care environment where every child matters most.

 

This program will integrate psychological consultation and brief therapy to patients in two pediatrician offices in the city of Naples, on Florida’s Southwest Coast. The team will work closely with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive psychological services to children and adolescents, including conducting consultations, providing brief therapy, and collaborating with medical staff to support the overall well-being of young patients. Psychological intakes will be completed at the pediatrician's office and outpatient follow ups will take place in a nearby office. Virtual and in-person visits will be offered to the families. The clinicians will also provide peer-to-peer consultation to the pediatricians and their teams regarding clinical care of patients. There is an opportunity to run therapy groups in one of the pediatrician's offices.

Job Summary

Provides psychological services.

Job Specific Duties

  • Completes and oversees therapist documentation and record keeping for quality, appropriateness, and completeness. 
  • Ensures all psychological treatment programs demonstrate evidence-based outcomes. 
  • Oversee the completion of the initial psychosocial evaluation within the first 2 sessions including a DSM diagnosis, clinical observations, and recommendations in the form of a treatment plan. 
  • Provides direct care, psychological therapies, and evaluations to patients. 
  • Provides in-service training to staff, interns, students, the hospital and community. 
  • Provides intern and student supervision to ensure assigned psychological treatments and assessment procedures are completed. 
  • Responsible for reviewing and completing ongoing documentation and progress notes for each visit/session of the patients' treatment goals and patients' response to therapy on a timely basis. 
  • Schedules patient appointments and sessions within 24 hrs from assignment. 
  • Completes outpatient charges for staff immediately after session; maintains organized records which can be easily accessed in case of discrepancies .

 

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Doctorate degree in Psychology 
  • Crisis Prevention Institute - successfully complete CPI (Crisis Intervention Training) and maintain active and in good standing throughout employment required within 90 days of hire date
  • CPR HEART - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Level II Background Check And Affidavit of Good Moral Character - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • Clinical Psychologist License in the State of Florida or license eligible in the State of Florida
  • APA/CPA accredited doctoral internship
  • ABPP board eligible
  • Experience in Individual and Family Therapy/Pediatric Psychology and Clinical Supervision

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to problem solve to formulate a plan for psychological treatment and to evaluate the patients response to the implementation of the plan.
  • Ability to work with patients and their families in a therapeutic manner.
  • Competency in performing psychological assessments and producing written report.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to problem solve, to formulate a plan for treatment, education, and evaluate the patients response to the implementation of the plan.
